MySignTV - Digital Signage Software Video Tutorial
09/13/2011
This week, DigitalSignageResource.com decided to highlight a digital signage software provider, MySignTV. As you can see from the above video, the company has taken the time to put together a step-by-step instructional video on how to design, create & schedule a digital signage presentation. The video walks you through the basics of how to design each slide, choosing exactly how the layout is & for how long each element will remain on a monitor. The timeline feature in particular caught our eye as an exciting addition that many other digital signage software solutions have failed to offer. Instead of creating an animated presentation in another program, MySignTV gives users the ability to alter when each element, whether it be text, image, flash or a web page, will appear on a screen. Once the slide is created, it is then scheduled using a simple drag-n-drop calendar-based system. Simplicity is at the core of this digital signage software & content management interface.

Sedao SWEP - Digital Signage User Admin System
08/17/2011
This week, DigitalSignageResource.com would like to highlight an interesting video explaining how the SWEP digital signage admin interface can be customized for your business. Once a multi-frame presentation is created, users can assign certain sections to be maintained & updated by certain individuals. The welcome message, for example, can be the responsibility of the receptionist. When he or she logs into an account, he or she is only granted permission to update that one section of the screen. The same can be true for other portions of a digital signage display. When the same section is used on multiple TVs, instant updates will result. The SWEP system also features an override-type function that broadcasts messages over the existing presentation. This is ideally meant for use during emergencies or when important information needs to be sent out immediately. This SWEP system demonstrates how personalized & easy to use digital signage solutions can be.

Digital Signage in Action
07/27/2011
This video showcases various ways in which retailers can incorporate digital signage into an advertising campaign. From touch-screen, outdoor kiosks to informative presentations behind cash registers, digital signage has many different uses, all of which are design to entertain & inform viewers. The difference between digital signage & static poster displays is that the moving graphics are constantly changing, therefore keeping a viewer's focus & continually entertaining them with new images & information. It is important though to point that that the oversaturation of dynamic digital signage solutions is of course a possibility. If electronic presentations are overused, then shoppers & potential clients may become numb to all of the advertisements, thus minimizing their overall effectiveness. For this reason, we suggest conducting adequate research, including surveys of your customers, to find out how to successfully keep their focus. Minimal placement throughout a retail store would be our best suggestion, so that one unit will have a more impactful display.

Digital Signage - Creating a "Human-Centric Earth-Friendly Information Society"
updated 08/27/2010
NEC Group hosted a forum back in 2008, displaying their latest development of digitial signage advertising. They've created a digital signage advertising monitoring system, with a built-in camera to watch passersby view a display. The digital signage advertising system can determine a person's gender, age & nationality to help users determine how effective a presentation is on certain age groups, genders & nationalities. This type of research can help users determine the type of digital signage advertising they'd like to incorporate into a presentation as well as each advertisement's location, time of day to be run & styling. A grocery store, for example, could use such a system to determine what type of people visit a store, during a specific time of day or visit a specific location within the store itself. This will help marketers create more target-specific presentations suited specfically to a particular audience, during a particular time of day & within a particular location. Although a little intimidating to think a computer & camera can determine our age, gender & nationality by simply viewing our features, such a unique system could truly help advertisers pinpoint specific ways to target their audiences. This is something to look out for more, in the near future.
