Aliant Telecom High Rise Digital Signage
Aliant, a major telecom in eastern Canada has done some extensive digital signage implementations in 2005-2006. Aliant has taken advantage of digital signage in their mobility retail stores, and on the outside of their headquarters in Halifax NS, Canada. Aliant MTT Mobility, Aliant's Mobile Phone division, has been remodeling their retail stores over the past year as well as opening new outlets in the Maritimes new shopping hot spots. For each remodel or new store, Aliant has installed several signage displays. There are usually several behind the front counter at point-of-sale, and a few on the walls near the mobile phone displays. Aliant hopes the displays, installed by DIME Inc., will help influence consumer purchases. Aliant's headquarters are stationed in downtown Halifax NS, Canada where nightfall happens around 5PM during the fall and winter months, and the most creative use of digital signage has emerged. Since the town is still alive long after this, they have decided to make use of the very large flat white section on the side of their high-rise. They have been projecting video images on to the side of their building that run about 40 feet wide by about 100 feet tall. They are projecting the images from another building's rooftop using a high-powered projector. Now that is about the most creative use of space Halifax has seen in a long time.
