iPod Vending Machines With Digital Signage
I was in Washington State on business last month, and had a chance to check out some shopping in downtown Seattle. It looks like the popular iPod music player is now being sold in some custom iPod vending machines which appear to be run by Zoom Vending. The particular vending machine that I saw was in a Macy's department store and provides consumers with iPods while showing music videos on a digital signage screen attached to the vending unit. Apparently the machines are popping up all over the place, including airports. After a consumer inserts a credit card, a Video iPod, Shuffle, Nano, or a variety of accessories become available at the push of a button. It is unclear as to the success of the iPod vending machines as of yet, but there is no doubt that they will command lots of attention for Apple and their iPods. iPod vending machines have been in Macy's for approximately six months, and have began to crop up in airports and grocery stores.
