Night Club Digital Signage

Night Club Digital Signage

Though local digital signage statistics are not complete at this time, Mercie Clement, an IDC market analyst, says that the marketing channel is beginning to gain traction with local businesses. "We're watching this space," clement said. "We know there are opportunities for resellers to provide end-to-end solutions." Night clubs, pubs, and bars are an example of local businesses taking advantage digital signage solutions.

In fact, the segment has been so lucrative that Total Concept Media has developed a network of 700 42-inch plasma screens in RSL and Leagues clubs. Total Concept CEO, Mary McTaggart says that the firm has the full package when it comes to digital signage solutions in the club environment. The firm can perform a full range of services associated with maintaining the solution. In addition to providing the hardware and scheduling software implementation, McTaggart said that there are network management issues and creative content decisions to be made.

"Our IT infrastructure is a VPN network. We load content via ADSL and download a couple of times a week to the club network," McTaggart said. "Content is an issue because you can't have ad after ad. You need interactive content, which engages the customer. It could be a mix of news, weather, sports, trivia, music or bloopers - the idea is to mix it up."

"You need to understand that what you display in a sports bar is not what you'd play in a restaurant. There's a lot of programming and strategy involved."

Total Concepts derives most of it's business from the club scent at this time however, there are plans to delve into new markets over the next several years. McTaggart says the firm plans to break in to retail, and in-store private networks.

The clubs that use Total Concept Media have mostly requested large plasma screens. The bigger the better. Total Concept maintains however, that no matter the size of the display itself, the underlying technology has been largely responsible for modernizing the message. "Digital signage is dynamic and flexible. It allows you to have moving images, using different platforms and you can also do streaming and set up XML feeds via our servers," McTaggart said.

Total Concept Media may have to pull a rabbit out of their hat as the digital signage landscape changes for night clubs. Digital Signage Resource has noticed that many clubs are integrating other functions such as lighting and air conditioning into one full service application that controls the entire venue.
