Digital Signage LCD Colorization, Passive Matrix Vs TFT

Digital Signage LCD Colorization, Passive Matrix Vs TFT

LCD screens operate by using electronic pixels that are switched on and off to produce and image. To produce color in an LCD screen, two technologies are put in to use; passive matrix and active matrix. The latter technology is also referred to as thin film transistors, or TFT.

Passive matrix technology produces a less clear and distinctive image, but is also less expensive than active matrix. Active Matrix is of course a much more expensive technology, but produces sharp color images, similar to those shown on a CRT display.
