Digital Signage Software - Content is the Key to Success
Digital signage software, or rather digital signage content designed for use by its software, is believed to be the key to success when entering, & remaining, competitive using digital signage. According to his book & blog (http://5thscreen.info/blog/), Keith Kelsen believes digital signage content is what matters most when it comes to creating a successful digital signage campaign. Digital signage software, although it is used to display your content, is becoming more & more universal with easy-to-use digital signage software interfaces & web-based management systems becoming standard. It's how you use the digital signage software, & the nature of your digital signage content, that will get heads turning & viewers intrigued, according to Kelsen.
The question is, how does one determine what is successful digital signage content? Keith Kelsen has recently released a new book discussing the digital signage market & how to effectively develop digital signage content based on a particular section of the market. Kelsen has broken the digital signage market into three different sections to help generalize his recommendations into more feasible systems: Point of Sale, Point of Wait & Point of Transit. Point of Sale focuses on more retail or product-specific environments where retailers are calling viewers to action by presenting product information & sales announcements. Point of Wait, would encompass locations such as within a doctor's office or elevator lobby, providing a form of entertainment to those waiting their turns. Finally, the Point of Transit section involves large signage typically positioned outdoors near train stations or highways for "people on the go." Understanding the network in which you'd like to position your digital signage will help you better determine the type of content you should display.
Kelsen even touches upon, in his blog, how digital signage is the "5th screen" of digital displays & how cinemas, television, computers & mobile devices will follow in the footsteps of digital signage, implementing dynamic, target-specific messages into each type of screen. For this reason, digital signage content is therefore becoming the key to success, as it will determine exactly what the viewer gets from his her or her experience.
