Symon Communications, Inc of Plano Texas completes their digital signage appliance, named Symon's Digital Appliance (SDA) via an agreement with Hauppauge Digital. The two companies announced their new OEM agreement early today, which has allows Symon to remarket and sell an entry-level digital media player manufactured by Hauppauge. This agreement will allow Symon to complete their Symon's Digital Appliance offering by bringing this digital signage media player to the dynamic signage market.

The piece of hardware, technically referrred to as the SDA-100, is a highly customized device for multi-media broadcast distribution in a small footprint, and a low consumer pricing point. The device features a hardware MPEG decoder for handling digital video movies, and a processor for digital pictures and audio files.

The Chief Executive Officer of Hauppauge, Ken Plotkin said "Symon's requirements in the digital signage market for a high performance Linux media player was a perfect fit for our digital media player platform. Our engineering teams cooperated to deliver a custom version of our consumer device, adding features required in the enterprise market but providing them at a low cost."

Symon's senior director of product management Joe Rabah says that "Symon is already using Hauppauge components such as their dependable tuner cards." Further indicating of their relationship with Hauppauge, Rabah says that "Our favorable experience with Hauppauge products advanced the relationship further. They have a good solid development team that assisted with the integration process and our combined efforts yielded additional new capabilities into the SDA-100."
